Wet felting

As part of our mini 'Braeside at Ann Edwards' topic we read a beautiful book called 'The Lost Words'.  It is all about how we are losing the vocabulary of nature from our conversations.  The book turns the lost words of nature into 'spells', enticing you to read them out loud so you can say and hear the words which are accompanied by the most beautiful illustrations. We used one of the lost words 'acorn' as our focus and found it outside in nature as well as wrote our own word spells about them and then made our own using wet felting.  We really enjoyed learning how to use warm soapy water to wet our chosen coloured felt which we then carefully rolled in our hands adding more pressure.
