Victorian Day

What a fantastic day we had dressing up as a Victorian Child and experiencing what it would have been like to go to school as well as carry out tasks within a workhouse.  We sat in rows, not speaking until we were spoken too,  practising our handwriting in Victorian script.  For our mid-morning snack we learnt how to make and gruel and of course got to taste it. We then carried out tasks that would have been part of being sentenced to Hard Labour as a prisoner such as working the treadmill, carrying the shot drill, picking oakum and silence in isolation!
