What a trip we had! Evacuated to Swindon and given first-hand experience of life in WW2 for children through interactive workshops looking at air raids and their shelters, and also evacuation. The children also were able to investigate the steam museum and enjoyed seeing all that this had to offer.
Some of the many highlights were when the children were chosen by their new families in a mock evacuation (adult helpers for the trip), and had to make sure that they looked their smartest and made a good impression so that they would be picked.
It gave us all a wonderful insight into life in WW2 especially for children, and was a special part of our fascinating topic.
