Sports

At Ann Edwards Primary School we are committed to ensuring all pupils have access to a wide range of sports.

We believe that all children should have access to quality sports, be outside as much as possible and be encouraged to try new activities. We are fortunate enough to have fantastic school grounds, excellent local network links, and qualified staff to support this.  Mr. Thomas, our PE coordinator, and the whole school team are constantly looking for opportunities for our children. Our sports commitment is also embedded through a wide range of after school club opportunities and residential visits.

Our thanks to all adults who support us and to our children for their continued 'can do' attitude and willingness to try new things!

2019 - 2020 Events

Football Festival 20.01.20

We attended a Football Festival at Cirencester Arena. It was a 7-a-side competition against 5 other schools. We won our first game 1-0 against Fairford Pink, a great left-footed curling shot in the bottom corner by Oliver. We went into our second game against Cirencester Primary full of confidence. We snatched a win late on, with a great one-on-one chance created and scored by Charlie. If we avoided defeat in our third and final game we would top the group. We created a number of chances but unfortunately didn't manage to score the crucial goal. We drew our final game 0-0 with Stratton. This meant we won the group and had one more game to clinch the title. We played Fairford Blue in the final. The final did not start how we wanted. We quickly went 1-0 down, which was followed almost immediately with a second. This seemed to shake us into life. We started to create chances, hitting the woodwork twice. Finally, Joshua picked the ball up in his own half, dribbled past 3 defenders and slotted the ball to the keepers bottom left. With only 1 minute left on the clock, the ball dropped to Joshua on the left-wing. He traveled forward into the box, angled his body, dropped his right shoulder and curled a second into the keepers' right-hand side. The game finished 2-2 and we came away sharing the title.
