As part of our Geography topic, we have been looking at our local area and using maps. We followed a route on a map of the village from school to church and looked out for landmarks on the way. We found out that landmarks are permanent features which can't move so we couldn't put cars, lorries or ducks on our maps! We drew the One Stop shop, the memorial cross, the Co-op, the telephone box, the bus stop, the post box, the pubs, the river Churn, Atkins Manor and the church on our maps. When we were following our maps we stopped at each junction and decided whether we needed to turn left or right. We found out that when we had completed our route that we had reached our 'destination'.
