Welcome to our Governors' section.......
The Governing body, of the school, is drawn from many aspects of the community. The Governors have responsibility for the overall management of the school, acting within the framework set by national legislation, the policies of the local education authority of Gloucestershire and SIAMS.
At our school there are 5 types of governor which reflect all those involved in the school community:-
Foundation Governor - The role of a Foundation Governor is to ensure that the Christian ethos of the school is maintained and creatively developed and they are appointed by the Church,
Co-Opted Governor – Co-Opted Governors are appointed by the governing body and drawn from the local community.
Local Authority Governor - These types of Governors are appointed by the governing body.
Parent Governor - The parent Governors are elected by parents of children attending the school and usually serve for 4 years.
Staff Governor - The role of these governors is to represent the staff at the school and it includes the Headteacher.
The full Governing body meets 5 times each academic year. And we host sub committee meetings to provide focus on specific areas from maintenance to budget and pupil/ staff wellbeing.
If you would like more information regarding the role of the governing body, please follow attached link, Gloucestershire Governors Information.

Mr Ian Moore - Interim Head Teacher
Mrs Heather Messenger - Chair of Governors / Parent Governor

Mrs Claire Broadhurst - Vice Chair of Governors / Parent Governor
I have been a governor for over three years, taking on the role of chair two years ago. I live in South Cerney with my husband, two children and my dog Harry. I am enjoying working with dedicated and hard working staff and governors at Ann Edwards School.
Mr Tony Martin - Vice Chair and Parent Governor
I am special guardian to two children at Ann Edwards, one in year 3 and one in year 4. My own children are grown up and left home and so having young children today is challenging in lots of new ways. I was impressed with the positive atmosphere at the school and want to support the staff and children to develop and flourish where I can.
Reverend Jennifer MacKenzie - Foundation Governor
Mrs Annette Vancil - Co-Opted Governor
I have worked at senior management level for many years, primarily in Information Technology and Project Management, and have previous experience as a Trustee for two charities supporting children. I have been a governor for two years and I enjoy supporting the school as they deliver a happy, encouraging and stimulating education for our children – including my two children.
Mrs Stefanie Rothery - Staff Governor
I am a HLTA at Ann Edwards C of E Primary School since 2006. I became a Staff Governor in September 2017. I started my career as a teaching assistant in 1998 at a forces school in Germany. I have a heartfelt passion for what I do and love supporting our pupils, as well as teachers. I think it is a privilege to further our pupils' development as part of a caring and committed team. I am deeply passionate about Ann Edwards and excited about being involved in shaping its future.
Mrs Hannah Rennie - Parent Governor
I have lived in South Cerney with my husband for 11 years. We have a son in Year One and a son due to start school in September 2020. Currently I am working from home as an Administration Manager for our family business as well as being a full-time parent. I am an experienced Primary School teacher and I have a passion for education. I have taught across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, managed the Key Stage 1 department, coordinated many different subjects, mentored newly qualified teachers and university students and stepped in as SENDCO for two terms. With my teaching expertise I feel I bring a strong set of skills and educational knowledge to the Governing team. For the last 2 years I have been on the Management Committee for South Cerney Playgroup. This involves making vital decisions about the running of Playgroup, including recruitment, handling complaints, ensuring all documentation is to a high standard for OFSTED as well as fundraising. I have recently completed a safeguarding course and understand the importance of safeguarding and child protection as well as confidentiality.
