As a school we are very privileged to have a fantastic setting and grounds. Part of the school grounds comprises of a 'Forest Schools' area and an 'Outside classroom'.
We are comitted to providing pupils with Forest School and outdoors experiences both within school grounds and within the local area. We have a qualified Forest School teacher in KS1 who runs forest school sessions for all KS 1 pupils and who will be running our EYFS Forest school sessions once a week in 2017-8.
We believe that Forest School experiences set learning in a different context for children allowing them to undertake a range of practical activities and carry out small achievable outdoor tasks linked to the curriculum. These experiences help children to develop team skills, build and strenghten curious minds and also help children to become more independent. Those who are unfamiliar with woodlands and the great outdoors can become more confident in using them and this can form the basis of a life long relationship with nature and the outdoor environment as a whole.
