We enjoyed a very busy and exciting Book Week from 2nd March to 6th March 2020. It certainly created a big buzz around reading and We started it off with the Scholastic Book Fair which was very well attended by children and parents and we raised a good amount of money to enable us to purchase some new book for our book corners. The Teachers had made a super effort in the lead up to Book Week to spruce up their classroom book corners and the children are enjoying reading in them. On Monday 2nd March a Storyteller/Author, John Rowe visited the children to tell some stories. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening, joining in and giving John their ideas for him to make up the stories. Throughout the week staff took books to the Teepee at play times to read to the children, a very popular activity. On Wednesday EYFS went to Cirencester Library where they enjoyed listening to stories, browsing the books and finding out about how to join the library. They found out that they would be able to take out 20 books! On Thursday 5th it was World Book day and the children dressed up in their pyjamas and brought in their favourite bedtime book. Some children decided to dress up as their favourite book characters too. The Teachers brought in their favourite picture books and read them to lots of different classes. Eyfs and Y1 enjoyed sharing their stories and relaxing at the end of the day with a hot chocolate and a biscuit. On Friday the children enjoyed pairing up with book buddies form different classes. We hope that the week has inspired all of our children to enjoy reading for pleasure!
