Having not heard any different we made our way to school this morning to find it deserted when we got there. We, as with most people in the village, listen to GWR not Radio Gloucestershire. GWR had a list of school closures but ours was not on there.
Is there not a way of informing parents of such an important matter?

With many teachers living much further afield than the pupils, we have to make sure that sufficient teachers can reach site to ensure the safety of children on the premises. Schools closed in Gloucestershire are displayed on Gloucestershire County Council's 'closed schools' webpage and will also be announced on BBC Radio Gloucestershire. I left Ann Edwards about 6 years ago when i was half way through year six. My teacher was Mrs Basset aand Mrs Powell. Are they still there? Please could you post on your website whether the school's open or not (due to snow). This would save us having to get up earlier than we have to.

Unfortunately the website editor wasn't aware that the school was to be closed, but in any case, I did try to post a closure notice on another school website, and due to an overload of people accessing the web hosting software, I was unable to do so until after 9pm. Likewise, Gloucestershire County Council's SCHOOL CLOSURE page http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/closedschools/, (which parents can log into to check if their school is to be closed) & to which there is a link on our 'Links' tab on the left, was also totally inundated with people logging in and would not display either. Hopefully county will resolve the problem in time for the next snowfall. Closure notices are read out on BBC Radio Gloucestershire. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

I just wanted to say hi to everyone, and to say me and Nathan are having a great time in France! We miss everone loads! Iwould like to say hi to Miss Bassett! You were one of my best teachers of all time! And Nathan would like to say hi to Miss Powell, you were one of his favourite teachers as well! And of course who could forget the fantastic headmaster, thankyou so much for teaching us! This school is the best I've ever been to! France isn't very hot at the moment, we are getting quite cold weather, but it does warm up after a while, and hopefully we will be able to use our pool soon!
We miss South Cerney the most, as it was such friendly village.

I would like to thank absolutely everyone who made it possible to raise £4000 pounds from October 2005 to October 2006 which has paid for the Nature Garden at the back of the school. Recently it was vandalised but has now been fixed and restored to all past and present members of the PTA I thank you most sincerely and hope 2006 to 2007 we can raise even more for our children at Ann Edwards School. If we can recruit even more PTA members and too that end the AGM is on 16th October 2006 at 7 pm till 8 pm and everyone is welcome to attend.

On behalf of Ann Edwards School the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) as chairman would like to send my sincere thanks for all the support given by all members of staff and parents to the Summer Fayre on 17 June 2006.

The PTA felt they must express sincere gratitude for all local stall holders for giving up their time to expand the fayre and support us with their donations.

Their efforts were also extremely well received by both parents and children alike!

The PTA would like to thank all personnel who took part however big or small part they played, and who are a credit to the school.

We look forward to a continued and rewarding association between teaching staff and parents and hope you will again help us again next year 16 Jun 07 for the same event.

Two long standing members of Ann Edwards School staff are leaving at the end of the summer term. Mrs Jan Waters is retiring after 30 years service and Mrs Lynda Tubbs is moving on after 15 years teaching here in South Cerney. Both teachers are highly regarded and popular members of our team and have had involvement with many families in the village over the years. They will be greatly missed.


If you would like an opportunity to bid them farewell and good luck, the Governors, PTA and staff of Ann Edwards School are holding a reception on Friday, 14th July at 7pm at the school. Please contact the school office on 860335 if you would like to come. We would be very pleased to hear from anyone who has been taught by (or whose children have been taught by) Mrs Waters or Mrs Tubbs. Contributions towards leaving gifts can be made to the school office.

Hello to Mrs Sedgewick and to Miss Law......I left Ann Edwards in April 2004. I moved to N. Ireland and I am now coming back to England. Although not close enough to return to Ann Edwards....boo hoo!! Hi to all Year 5 pupils that might remember me!!!

Hi, I used to go 2 this school! it was great fun and the teachers are fab! Miss you loads Mrs Bassett!!!! I'm now in year 8 at kingshill school! This was the best primary school in the world!!!!

My daughter, Rachel, is currently in Year 5 at Ann Edwards.Congratulations to you all on the excellent new website, it's informative, and fun, both at the same time. I'm presently working out of Country, and so it's even more impressive for me to be able to see images of the school, the kids at work and to keep up to date with the activities.
