Avebury Stone Age Trip

Avebury Stone Age Trip

On Thursday 13th September and Friday 14th September Year 3 and 4 went to visit the Stone Circles at Avebury. We stayed the day with a guided tour of the stones and finding out lots of new information about the stones including; names, weight and size. We also found out some reasons behind the purpose of the stones but these are all without evidence.

During the afternoon, we looked at the museums and found out some more information about the archologists that have explored the site for many years. We learnt about a Travelling Barbour Surgeon who’s skeleton was found under one of of the stones. We also saw a skeleton of a 3 year old boy, who has been named Charlie by the National Trust, and how he was found and the evidence found with him to explain the daily lives of people in the Stone Age.
